A Return to Halifax

I left my Vancouver home at 9:30 AM (local) and arrived at my Halifax home around 5:30 AM (local) the next day. That’s not how it was supposed to pan out, but when we attempted to land in Halifax… well, it just wasn’t going to happen in that fog. My flight was diverted to Moncton, NB, where confusion and miscommunication was rampant.

My only option was to spend a night in a shoddy motel, wake up at 7 AM (after, like, 30+ hours without sleep, which so wasn’t going to happen) to call and find out if/when I would get another flight, and it all didn’t sound promising at all. Thankfully, my mum + her boyfriend + my aunt all bit the bullet and drove from airport #1 to airport #2 in order to pick me up. It was a long venture, but on a positive note I was able to acquire a nice fireworks sampler at a truck stop in New Brunswick.

Last night was my bro’s 20th birthday party with mum’s family down at the boathouse. I didn’t get a chance to drop a line in the water, but I did go zipping around The Arm in the Boston Whaler and my uncle’s new boat. There were a couple of seals and I saw plenty of fish jumping, so all signs are good and I should have my pleasure craft license before Steve arrives here next Tuesday.
