Reading: Bret Easton Ellis’ The Rule of Attraction

Originally, I had wanted to dip my toes into the pool of Bret Easton Ellis novels by starting with a work I hadn’t seen transformed into film, but upon reading some samples on Amazon it seemed best to start with something I know I like, The Rules of Attraction, to ease me into his rambling, run-on style. I really like it, there is a natural, conversational way about it, but it’s going to take a little extra something from me to not get too caught up in the structure of the page.
Why the sudden need to read Ellis? Self improvement. In the past three weeks his work has come up a lot, there is something he distinctly knows within the beast of humanity, and I’ve got to give it a good, hard look. Besides, I hope to let him influence me.
